318iS Part 8: Paint and cleaning

To tidy up the exterior I painted a iS spoiler, new lip, and new front valence. I also painted the iX flares I had just in case I decide to mount them.

The first thing I did was remove the rear spoiler, it was peeling on the edges and my parts car came with one in really nice shape already primed.

A lot of the time there's rust starting to bubble around the mounting holes so I was prepared to repair that. This is also a good time to get that area clean too, I suggest doing this every once in a while to any E30 just to keep it protected.

As you can see it's pretty gross underneath

Cleaned up nice, and no rust!

Freshly painted and getting wet sanded.

The front valence had this really rough texture to it, like bed liner or something, and it was dented. Luckily, the parts car came with a very straight one primed and ready for paint.

I couldn't get the bolts holding the bumper on so I had to remove the cover first to access the top of the bolts so I could soak them in liquid wrench.

After battling with the bolt for an hour I finally got it out by going back and forth with the impact gun until it was loose, then hammering it out from the top.

You can see the valence is dented and twisted

Valence removed

New valence on

Done!

That's it for this year, now I am going to enjoy driving it every day that I can this summer!
