318iS Part 5: Interior

Today I finished up the interior. After patching up the pedal mount I moved on to the carpet. I thought I was going to use the carpet from the parts car, but that was in a lot worse shape than I thought, so I ended up having to reuse the original carpet which I honestly planned on throwing away. Besides some stains and the smell, it was in really nice shape. First thing I did was soak it in simple green, scrub it thoroughly, then rinse. It took about an hour worth of washing to get the water to run clear.

Next I used ColorBond BMW 258 to dye the carpets black. This stuff used to be available from BavAuto but now the only good place for it is Summit Racing. I highly suggest this stuff!

While I waited for the carpet to finish drying, I dyed and installed the rear shelf with premium speakers from the parts car. I also installed a leather rear seat with headrests the I got from my friend. I also installed Houndstooth rear panels that were given to me

Door sills were next, I highly suggest buying new clips for them as they are all a huge pain in the ass.

The glovebox was gross inside so I thoroughly scrubbed that out and used the ColorBond on it as well.

The hinge was pretty gross so I replaced that too.

Next I installed the black leather seats from the parts car. I had a hard time not using the original vinyl seats but I think I'd rather just keep those stored away for the future and use the leather for daily driving. I also installed the houndstooth door cards

And that's it! interior is complete. I decide to try to take it for a drive up the road but didn't get very far before I found out the brakes stick really bad. I've got something in the works to fix them that will be my next post.
